YOU'RE SO BAD! is played with a deck of 52 cards and the 20-sided die that is provided. The game is best when there are 2 to 6 players. To begin, each player rolls the 20-sided die and the player with the highest roll goes first. Play proceeds clockwise. Each player starts with a piece of paper and pencil/pen. Each player writes three columns on his/her paper and labels them "Score Points," "Chicken Points," and "Strikes."
At each player's turn, he/she first tolls the 20-sided die. If the player rolls 1-14 the next card is just for them. If the roll is 15-18, the card goes up for auction (explained below). If the roll is 19-20 the player has the discretion to play the card or force any other player to play the card. The top card is revealed and the scenario on the card is read. The player must consider the four numbers on the bottom of the card. The points in the Scott Free and the Caught circle are the "score points" the player could win or lose attempting to meet the challenge posed in the Roll This or Less circle. The points in the Chicken circle are the chicken points that the player will accumulate if he/she chooses to pass on the card. Finally, the number in the Roll This or Less circle indicates the maximum number the player can roll in order to win the Scott Free points. Otherwise the player loses the points shown in the Caught circle.
Should a player decide to chicken out, all the other players are encouraged to cluck like chickens.
In the case that an auction is indicated (rolling 15-18 prior to turning over the card to play) there is a bidding auction to play the card. Bidding starts with the current player who must declare a number for which he/she will roll that number or less to earn the indicated Scott Free Points, or else lose the number indicated in the Caught circle. The first bid can be any number from 1-20. Bidding proceeds clockwise with each next player having the option to bid a lower number to roll, or to pass. Once all players except one bidder have passed consecutively the bidding player must roll the 20-sided die and attempt to make his/her hand. Once a card is played, the card is set aside. Play then proceeds clockwise to the next player.
Strikes are accumulated whenever a player reaches a score of -20 or lower or accumulates 5 or more Chicken Points. In either case, the points are reset to zero but the player earns a strike. Three Strikes and the player is out. The game ends if all 52 cards have been played and at least two players are still in the game. In that case, the one with the most points wins. If all but one player strikes out before all 52 cards are played, the remaining player is the winner regardless of how many points he/she has. In the event of a tie, the player wtih fewer Strikes wins. And if that's also a tie then the player with the fewest Chicken Points wins. And... if that's still a tie then the result is a draw.
